Unfortunately the cost to hire the pool is due to double from the 1st April 2010. In an effort to keep the session fees low but still cover the pool hire under 16’s will be charged £3.50 and adults £4.50 per session. Adults who paddle in both the first and second sessions will be asked to pay an additional £1.50 per person.

This pricing structure will be reviewed in 3 months time and as always it will be dependant on numbers. The future of the canoeing sessions rely on your continued support.

Sessions and costs:

1st Session, 8.00pm – 9.00pm. Beginners/Intermediate paddlers with structured coaching provided.

2nd Session, 9.00pm – 10.00pm. Over 16’s only, Intermediate/Advanced paddlers, playing canoe polo.

• Adults – £4.50 per session
• Child – £3.50 per session
• Adult – £6 double session (1st and 2nd sessions, no under 16’s in 2nd session.)

Price changes will take effect from the 8th April 2010

A KAYAKER risked his life to save a 19-year-old stranded in a dinghy in choppy waters.

Barry Hughes, of Sherwood, Nottingham, rescued the young man who had capsized with a friend in the sea off Scarborough Harbour.

The teenager was holding a lifebelt but unable to climb on to the pier, though his friend had swum to safety.

Witnesses said the boy would have drowned if Mr Hughes had not set out in his kayak to save him.

Leaving on the evening of Wednesday 28th October 09 we will be returning to Coventry on Sunday 1st [...]]]> Yes its that time of year again when thoughts start turning to the annual Scotland trip. This year we are back over to the west coast and accommodation has once again been arranged within Loch Awe village hall.

Leaving on the evening of Wednesday 28th October 09 we will be returning to Coventry on Sunday 1st November 09.

The trip will be run at cost of £100 per person. All monies will be pooled to cover the cost of fuel, accommodation and breakfast. This will not cover lunch, evening meals or the enormous amount of beer you will no doubt drink…

There are plenty of rivers in the local area including the Orchy, Etive, Awe, Blackwater, Spean, Roy.

This year the ‘Ridgers’ of all ages intend on scaling the heights of Ben Nevis as well as other extreme trips to take in local history, classic walks and cake shops (NOT FOR THE FEINT HEARTED).

Coming along on the trip is easy, See Gary, Jim or Ian at the pool and have a deposit ready by the 1st October. The remaining balance is to be paid by the 22nd October. If you are willing and able to drive then let Gary know and select your navigator and cake suppliers to accompany you.

This is not a club trip. Anyone who attends is welcome to do so as an individual. Kayaking and Ridging are assumed risk activities and whilst every effort will be made to guide individuals your safety cannot always be guaranteed. This is a trip for like minded individuals, by like minded individuals.
